Become an interpreter or translator
IRSA needs interpreters and translators to provide services to new immigrants who cannot communicate in English.
Before they are contracted to work with our clients, all interpreters must undergo a screening and intake process to ensure the quality of service and safety of clients. Each interpreter must complete IRSA Certified Interpreter Training and undergo annual recertification.
We offer the training on an as-needed basis.
Interpreters are selected for training based on the following criteria:
- English language fluency (level 6+)
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- The current need for interpreters for a specific language
- Previous experience
Interpreters trained and engaged by IRSA must live in Prince Edward Island and be eligible to work in Canada.
