Become an interpreter or translator

IRSA needs interpreters and translators to provide services to new immigrants who cannot communicate in English.

Before they are contracted to work with our clients, all interpreters must undergo a screening and intake process to ensure the quality of service and safety of clients. Each interpreter has to complete IRSA Certified Interpreter Training and be recertified every three years.

We offer the training on an as-needed basis.

To become an interpreter or translator at IRSA, a candidate needs to:

  • Be fluent in English and another language
  • Live in Prince Edward Island
  • Be eligible to work in Canada
  • Undergo the in-person Certified Interpreter Training at IRSA
